10. Carers Leave

All employees, regardless of their length of service are entitled to one week’s unpaid leave in any 12-month period to provide or arrange care for a dependant with a long-term care need. A “week” for these purposes will be equal in duration to the period the employee is normally expected to work in a week at the time of making the request. How that is calculated will depend on whether they have fixed hours or variable hours of work.

An employee will be eligible for Carers Leave if they have a dependant who has: A physical or mental illness or injury that requires, or is likely to require, care for more than 3 months; A disability (as defined in the Equality Act 2010); or Care...
