3. Selection Criteria
These guidance notes provide an overview of areas to be considered when looking at selection criteria and a suggested process for selecting employees in a redundancy situation. Each situation within any organisation must be considered on its own facts, taking into consideration the organisation’s own circumstances, the terms, conditions and working practices.
Introduction
Where there are a number of employees who carry out the same or similar job function and there is a need to consider reducing the number of employees, it is important to fairly and objectively select those employees who will potentially be made redundant.
